Permit Required in Most Cases
Demolishing a detached garage typically requires a demolition permit in North Carolina municipalities. This is a county or city permit, not an HOA approval. Permits for residential demo structures are usually simple and inexpensive. We can advise but do not pull permits on your behalf — that's the homeowner's responsibility.
Utilities Need to Be Disconnected First
If the garage has electrical service, it must be disconnected and the line capped by a licensed electrician before demolition. Gas and water lines, if any, need the same treatment. We don't start until utilities are confirmed dead.
