Why Junk Doctors

Why Customers Choose Us

1

Selective Demo — Not Full Teardowns

We handle interior gutting, room removals, addition teardowns, and renovation prep. We do not perform full residential structure demolitions requiring heavy machinery or implosion equipment. If you're replacing a home from the ground up, that's a different contractor.

2

Permits Are Required for Structural Work

Any work touching load-bearing walls, structural elements, or a building's exterior shell requires a permit in North Carolina. Interior non-structural demo in some cases does not — but when in doubt, pull the permit. We do not apply for permits, but we won't start structural work without confirmation that the right permits are in place.

3

Utilities Off Before We Start

Electrical, gas, and water must be disconnected and confirmed off before demolition begins. This is non-negotiable for any structural work. Your licensed contractor or utility provider handles disconnection — we handle what comes after.

4

Debris Hauling Is Included

Demo work produces a lot of material fast. We haul the drywall, lumber, insulation, tile, and everything else at the end of the job. You don't need a separate disposal arrangement.

FAQ

Questions Answered.

No. We do selective and partial residential demolition — interior gutting, room removals, addition teardowns, and renovation prep work. Full residential demolitions requiring excavators, cranes, or implosion equipment are outside what we do.
It depends on what's being demolished. Non-structural interior work in some cases doesn't require a permit. Any work touching load-bearing walls, structural elements, or the building envelope does. Check with your local building department before scheduling structural work.
Yes. Electrical, gas, and water must be confirmed off and properly disconnected before we begin any demolition work. This is a safety requirement, not an option. Your licensed contractors handle utility disconnection.
Yes. Stripping kitchens and bathrooms to the studs for renovation is a common job. Cabinets, tile, fixtures, plumbing trim, and drywall all come out. Plumbing and electrical rough-in disconnection should be coordinated with your plumber and electrician first.
If your home was built before 1980, asbestos and lead paint testing is recommended before demo work. Regulated hazardous materials require licensed abatement contractors — not us. Once abatement is complete, we handle the remaining non-hazardous debris.
Often yes, depending on how it was constructed and whether it's load-bearing. Call us with specifics on the structure — age, construction type, foundation — and we'll tell you whether it's a job we can handle.
